About OneManOnly
OneManOnly is about the one-person company, by the numbers: the tools it runs on, the economics of running one, and the companies whose figures are verified. The Company of One.
A one-person company does every job itself: getting paid, building the product, marketing, sales and support, and the money and paperwork. OneManOnly compares the tools a solo founder can run each of those jobs on, using figures you can check: fees, plan prices, limits, free tiers, payout times and the steps a setup takes. It also covers the economics of solo business, from government statistics and platform reports, and one-person companies whose revenue or exits are verified or on file.
Three pillars, equal weight
- Tools Seven categories, one for each part of the business, from Payments & Fees to Money & Admin. AI is part of all of them, and has two categories of its own: AI Agents & Automation, and AI Workflows.
- Economics Solo Economics: how many one-person businesses there are, what they earn and spend, how they price and how long they last.
- Cases Case Studies: one-person companies with verified or filed figures, and the tools behind them.
New posts rotate between the three, so no pillar runs ahead of the others.
Time counts as much as money
A tool that costs a little more but files your sales tax, or a workflow that takes an hour to set up and saves several a week, can matter more than the cheapest price. So every category covers both: what a tool or process costs, and what it takes off your plate in steps, setup time and hours. Time-saved figures follow the same rules as prices. Measured figures can rank; a maker's own claim, such as "saves 10 hours a week", is labeled vendor-stated.
How we label figures
Every figure on OneManOnly says where it comes from. Revenue and income figures carry one of four labels, and so does any other figure where it matters who is saying it.
- Verified
- Checked against payment data, such as revenue from a payment-connected source, shown as a dated snapshot.
- Filed
- From an official filing or disclosure: a regulator, a company register, an acquirer's filing or government statistics.
- Founder-stated
- What a founder says about their own company, with the source and date. Shown in the text, never ranked.
- Vendor-stated
- What a tool's maker says: list prices, limits, or claims such as hours saved.
Revenue and income figures rank only when they're Verified or Filed. A vendor's own figures, such as list prices, rank only against other vendors' figures of the same kind, never against independent measurements. Plans priced in credits, tasks or messages rank against each other only where the unit means the same thing.
Three formats
- Rankings sort one measurable thing, such as a fee, a plan price, a payout time or verified revenue, and are named for what they measure ("lowest-fee", "fastest payout"), never "best".
- Features look at one question with sourced analysis: what changed, why, and what the numbers show.
- Explainers show how one thing works, from a merchant of record to a business function run with AI, step by step.
How we source
- Primary sources first: the tools' own pricing pages and documentation, regulators and government statistics, company registers and filings, and platform reports. Each page lists what it used, and every claim is footnoted.
- Dated and versioned: prices and limits change often, so every table says when its figures were checked, with the plan and billing period named.
- As the source states it: a figure is given in its source's own terms and currency, with any conversion in a labeled extra column.
- Trimmed, never padded: if reliable data runs out at 12 rows, the table stops at 12.
What we don't do
- We describe, we don't advise. Entity types, incorporation, sales tax, VAT and filings are described from official sources, with the jurisdiction and year. Nothing on OneManOnly is legal, tax, accounting, investment or financial advice, and we never say which choice is right for you.
- No income promises. No "make $X" headlines. Companies are ranked on their public records, never a person's own income.
- Neutral about tools. What's covered and how it ranks follows the stated metric and nothing else. No sponsored placements, and no "best tool for you" picks.
- Never covered: get-rich, "passive income" and guru courses or coaching; MLM and dropshipping hype; crypto and trading; adult-content tools and platforms.
- No news articles, reviews, opinion pieces or interviews.
