Wix, at wix.com, is a website and online-store builder: a visual editor with hosting included, sold in yearly plans, with the first tier free. Wix says it was founded in 2006 by Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami and Giora Kaplan, is headquartered in Tel Aviv, and reached over 300 million users worldwide in 2026.¹ It is also the company that announced the acquisition of Base44, the AI app builder, on June 18, 2025, covered in What Wix Actually Paid for Base44.⁴

Wix’s plans page lists a Free plan at $0 with no credit card required, then Light at $17, Core at $29, Business at $39 and Business Elite at $159 a month, and says the displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions paid in full at the time of purchase, before tax.² Light includes a free domain for one year, 2 GB of storage and 2 site collaborators; accepting payments starts on Core (50 GB, 5 collaborators, “basic eCommerce”), with Business adding 100 GB and “standard eCommerce” and Business Elite unlimited storage and 100 collaborators.² Wix’s own payment service charges 2.9% + $0.30 on US credit and debit cards, 3.7% + $0.30 on American Express, 3.49% + $0.49 on PayPal, and adds 1.5% on cross-border payments and a $15 chargeback fee.³ The plans page says a Premium plan lets you connect your own domain and remove Wix branding, and that most Premium plans include a one-year free domain voucher.² For a company of one the time saved is that hosting, the editor, the store and the checkout are one account; the tax work is not, since Wix’s payment page is a fee list and does not describe Wix as the seller of record.³
