Base44

Base44 is an AI app builder: a founder describes an app in plain language and Base44 builds the front end, back end, database, user sign-in and payments, and runs the result on its own hosting, as its pricing page describes it.¹ TechCrunch (a secondary source) reported that it was six months old and bootstrapped, built by a single founder, when Wix announced the acquisition on June 18, 2025.⁴ Wix announced an initial consideration of about $80 million plus earn-out payments through 2029;² its annual report says Wix.com Ltd. acquired 100% of Base44, Inc. on June 13, 2025, for a total purchase consideration of $92.158 million.³ What Wix Actually Paid for Base44 takes the deal apart line by line. In March 2026 Wix reported that Base44 had “recently reached $100 million of ARR,” a company-reported figure.⁵

Base44’s own examples of what it builds run from a productivity tool or back-office system to a customer portal or a complete product.¹ Its Free plan includes 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month and up to 5 apps; Starter costs $20 a month on monthly billing, Builder $50, Pro $100 and Elite $200, and annual billing takes 20% off each.¹ Message credits pay for talking to the AI while building; integration credits pay for the built-in services an app uses once it runs, such as sending an email, generating an image or making an LLM call. When message credits run out, the chat takes no new messages until they reset or the plan changes.⁶ Starter’s $20 is level with Replit Core as the lowest entry price among the five builders in AI App Builders’ Plans by the Numbers.

The time saved is mostly the setup a founder doesn’t do: Base44 lists an integrated back end and database, authentication and user management, and cloud storage on every plan, Free included.¹ Every app gets a free built-in address on base44.app with no DNS setup or payment, and custom domains are available from the Starter plan up.⁷ Third-party services an app connects to bill the founder directly at their own prices, Base44 says.¹
